Xiaomi has just entered the wearable market for pets by launching a new fitness tracker for pets called the PetBit (sounds like FitBit). The device like any other unique product from Xiaomi is listed on the company’s crowdfunding platform Youpin for RMB 199 (approximately Rs 2,000).
PetBit features a squarish design, which carries dimensions of 5.04 x 4.6 x 1.83 cm and weighs 26 grams. It is available in two colors, Silver/White and Graphite / Black and can be attached to the harness of your dog with ease. the device is also waterproof with an IPX7 certification.
With respect to fitness, PetBit can track and calculate walking time, distance and calories burnt of your pet. Owners can access all the data on the PetBit app on their smartphones. Not just that, users can also share the fitness details of their pet on the PetBit community, to compare stats with pets of friends as well. PetBit features a battery life of 30 days.
Besides fitness tracking, PetBit also does the job of a location finding device. There is a GPS tracker, which can give accurate location of your pet. It is powered by a Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) technology that not only offers location details but also helps offer an intelligent power saving mode. One of the most interesting features is the QR code embedded on it. It can carry the owner’s information, which will help people to simply scan the QR code and inform the owner in the event of the pet getting lost.
