Apple’s Watch Series 3 Cellular is finally available for buying in India. To recall, the smartwatch was first launched back in September last year at Apple’s keynote event alongside the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. For selling the Watch Series 3 in India, Apple has partnered with two telecom giants of the country – Airtel and Jio. To purchase the Apple Watch series 3, Reliance Jio customers can head to Jio.com, Reliance Digital stores, and Jio stores, while the Airtel users can pre-book the watch on Airtel Online Store. Beginning today, the Apple Watch Series 3 Cellular is for buying in India for a starting price of Rs 39,080. But, Airtel users will be able to get hold of the Watch Series 3 Cellular at Rs 34,080, but there are some conditions that you will need to follow.
All customers purchasing the new Apple Watch Series 3 from Airtel online store will be able to avail a cashback of Rs 5,000, and purchase the smartwatch for Rs 34,080, instead of the original price tag of Rs 39,080. But, there’s a condition to get the cashback. The customer will need to pay for the watch with their ICICI credit card. In addition, Airtel customers on MyPlan Postpaid or Infinity Postpaid plans will be able to get cellular services on Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) for free.
Alongside Airtel online store, the Apple Watch Series 3 is also selling on Jio.com. On buying the smartwatch from Jio store, customers will be able to get access to the new JioEverywhereConnect service, which will allow Jio users to use the same Jio number on both their iPhone and Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular). It will let users make and receive calls, use data and applications on the data-strong Jio network, even when they are a few miles away from iPhone. The new JioEverywhereConnect service is available for all its prepaid and postpaid customers at no additional cost. Additionally, Jio is also offering customers with access to priority delivery and installation at home by digital specialists.
Here’s how to set up the watch:
In order to activate cellular service on the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), customers will first need to update their iPhone and smartwatch to iOS 11.3 and watchOS 4.3 respectively. They will then need to tap the Settings option on iPhone > General > About and follow the prompt to update to the latest carrier settings.
