Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro (2018), an affordable Android smartphone from the Korean smartphone giant, has been launched. The smartphone has leaked multiple times in the past month with its leaked renders giving a closer look at the device.
The smartphone has been silently launched in Vietnam and the official listing confirms the specifications that leaked last month. The Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) features a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a quad-core SoC clocked at 1.4GHz and is aided by 1.5GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage.

The Galaxy J2 Pro for 2018 also supports expandable storage up to 256GB via SD card slot. It features an 8-megapixel main camera with flash and support for 1080p video recording. It gets a 5-megapixel selfie camera at the front. The Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) supports dual-SIM card slots and comes with connectivity options including WiFi, Bluetooth but lacks NFC or fingerprint sensor. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat and is supported by a 2,600mAh battery. The phone relies on microUSB port for charging.
Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) measures 143.8 x 72.3 x 8.4mm in dimension and weighs around 153 grams. The smartphone comes in black, blue or gold color options and will be available in Vietnam for VND3,290,000 (around Rs 9,250).
For Samsung, the Galaxy J series is the major contributor when it comes to volume and remains one of the most widely sold smartphone series in the offline retail segment. With the growth of Chinese smartphone makers in the Asian markets, Samsung will be hoping that the J2 Pro helps it stay competitive in the market.
Samsung has been facing strong competition from Xiaomi in the Indian smartphone market, especially in the budget segment. The company will likely bring J2 Pro to India to compete with budget offerings from the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Lenovo.
