Idea has entered into a partnership with Sony Mobile to offer 60GB of free 4G data with the company’s newly announced Xperia R1 and R1 Plus smartphones. Both smartphones are set to go on sale in India from November 10 onward from both online and offline channels and are a part of Sony’s push to gain a foothold in the hyper competitive budget segment in India.
Customers purchasing the Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus will get 10GB of data on a recharge of Rs 300 and above from Idea. This offer can be availed a grand total of six times – adding up to 60GB of free data. Amazon India is also providing buyers Rs 75 as cashback if purchased via Amazon Pay balance.
There are a few other promotions on offer as well – customers can avail no cost EMI via Bajaj Finserv’s EMI card and all major credit cards. Those who pre-order the two smartphones from Amazon India will also get a 32GB Sandisk microSD card free.

Xperia R1, R1 Plus specifications
Both Xperia R1 and R1 Plus are powered by the Snapdragon 430 processor paired with a 2620mAh battery and the Adreno 505 GPU. While the R1 Plus comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, the R1 makes do with only 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The storage on board can be expanded via a microSD card on both phones.
Both smartphones feature a 5.2-inch 720p HD display, Android Nougat out of the box with a confirmed update to Android 8.0 Oreo, 4G VoLTE and dual-SIM support, an 8MP front facing camera, a 13MP rear camera and USB Type – C for charging.
